Official Critic Movie Review:

The Broken Lizard comedy group released the cult classic "Super Troopers" in 2001. Arcot "Thorny" Ramathorn (Jay Chandrasekhar), Rodney "Rod" Farva (Kevin Heffernan), MacIntyre "Mac" Womack (Steve Lemme), Carl Foster (Paul Soter), and Robbie "Rabbit" Roto (Erik Stolhanske), are five Vermont State Troopers who pull over speeding drivers, pull pranks, and clash with the local police department. Chastised for a lack of arrests by Captain John O'Hagen (Brian Cox), Vermont Governor Jessman (Lynda Carter) keeps threating to shut down their station. The pounding, hard rock music, and high speed chases, help keep this fast-paced comedy zipping along. Speaking of high, unsurprisingly, the Troopers smoked some of the marijuana they got from a huge drug bust. That made them jump around all nimbly bimbly. Sadly, they ended up losing their jobs as State Troopers. Wanting to explore other creative endeavors, the Broken Lizard boys made the movies "Club Dread" (2004), "Beerfest" (2006), and "The Slammin' Salmon" (2009).

In 2018, the sequel "Super Troopers 2" was finally released. In the interim, the fab five were hired and fired from the Spurbury, Vermont Police Department, because of the Fred Savage incident. (Fred has a cameo near the end of the film). They meet up with their former Captain John O'Hagen (Brian Cox), and Vermont Governor Jessman (Lynda Carter). The Governor explains that, because of a recent land survey, it was discovered that land in Canada was originally designated to be a part of Vermont. Canada has agreed to hand over the land to the United States. As a result, the Captain and the fab five are hired back as State Troopers. They proceed to pull over speeding drivers, pull pranks, and clash with the Canadian Mounties, most notably Will Sasso as Sergeant Major Roger Archambault. Rob Lowe is somewhat miscast as Guy Le Franc, a former hockey player, and current mayor of the Canadian border town the Troopers patrol. One of the funniest scenes involves a huge grizzly bear that was lured into the Troopers' station by the Mounties, which causes the Troopers to jump around all nimbly bimbly. The sequel didn't have many high speed chases, which made it not as fast-paced or as funny as the original movie.
